Expectations …

Dutch tea rusks with these sprinkles communicate a special message!

On Thursdays, Laura and her family eat with us. A few weeks ago, Rebecca and Joram also joined. They brought desert: cookies with special pink and blue springles. It took us a split second to realize, they were telling us: “we are expecting a baby!” Lots of hugs, a few tears, and two confused grandkids! We’re very happy with them and pray for a healthy baby. It’s due late August, perhaps on one of our family’s birthdays or maybe on our anniversary!

Jack’s book is finally close to completion. He’s writing the last chapter and should be done with the first draft in a few weeks. Then another month for the revision and redaction of the entire text. The book is entitled “Wakker in Gods wereld: Kerkzijn in the 21ste eeuw” (ET: Awake in God’s World: Being Church in the 21st Century). If all goes well, it should hit the bookstores on June 1, with book presentations soon thereafter.

Jack’s long awaited cardiac ablation has finally been scheduled for this Monday, February 26, at 8am local time. It’s a routine procedure for the doctors, but it’s of course very personal to us. We’d appreciate your prayers that the heart afib (atrial fibrillation) would be cured. We found out that the cardiology staff of the nearby hospital is internationally known for its expertise and care, so we are thankful about God’s care in that. Unfortunately, this puts Jack out of commission for a week or so, but he’s in good spirits about finishing the book.

Thank you for praying. See also our prayer page.
