Praying Together

Psalm 139:1-6 (ESV)

1  O LORD, you have searched me and known me!
2  You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
3  You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
4  Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.
5  You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
6  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.

Thank you for praying with us. It is only through the Spirit’s work in and through us that disciples will grow and prove faithful..

Praise and prayer:

  • Pray for us – “pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen us with power through His Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith” (Eph. 3:16, NIV)
  • Pray for ETF staff and students during the exam period of June.
  • It seems we’ve found a publisher for the book about evangelical churches in Belgium’s major cities. Pray for wisdom and strength to finish getting it into print, and that many will be encouraged by it.
  • The housing situation for the Maastricht church has met some major obstacles. Please keep on praying for the Lord’s direction and wisdom throughout the process.
  • Praise that the Lord enabled Jack (as chairperson of the department of Practical Theology) to find qualified guest teachers for various courses. The Fall semester is now fully covered. One more course for the Spring semester to go!

Special prayer dates:

  • May 24-26, the annual international conference of ETF’s Institute of Leadership and Social Ethics in which Jack participates, focusing on Servant Leadership.
  • June 1, Rebecca returned from a 5 month working-holiday in Australia.
  • June, for Jack to finish several writing projects
  • June 12-13, final evaluations with student interns.
  • June 13, our eldest daughter Laura turns 30!
  • June 15, consultation with a Dutch pastor, with a recent PhD in homiletics, to consider part-time involvement with the ETF practical theology department. Pray that all pieces would fall into place for this to materialize. It would be a great boost in training ETF students to preach well.

  • June-July, for our ministry of hospitality during the summer months.
  • June 30 – July 1, Pat organizes a missionary weekend with our Dutch missionaries, on furlough from their work in an Asian Muslim country.
