Praying Together

Psalm 64:10 (NIV)

Show me your ways, Lord,
    teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth
    and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
    for you, Lord, are good.

Thank you for praying with us. God is faithful.

Praise and prayer:

  • The major renovations in our new Houten home are done – lots of details yet left. In August, we hope to have a house warming party to meet more of our new neighbors. Pray for good conversations and relationships as a ‘grow into’ our neighborhood.
  • Pray as we begin to explore ministry opportunities in Houten. We already discovered several initiatives to reach out to needy people in our new city. We desire to be sensitive to God’s voice directing us to the ministry that he has prepared for us.
  • Praise for many faithful servants on the ETF staff. Pray for R&R during the summer months, with fresh ideas for teaching and writing.
  • Pray for the grading in the month of August, which is a busy time of exams and grading for ETF students and staff.
  • Praise that most of our furlough church visits have been confirmed. We hope to see many supporters in the IN/MI and NJ/PA area (mail us about it, please!)
  • Pray that the Lord would add a few more supporters to our team as we travel and present, so that we we’ll have healthy finances for the coming term.

Special prayer dates:

  • Most student registrations have been completed. Pray for additional ones to register in the weeks to come.
  • July 29 – Aug 5, a week’s vacation in the mountains of Tirol, Austria.
  • Aug 6-11, Annual BMW Field COnference in Southern Germany. Pray for the speaker, for mutual encouragement and refreshment, and for fresh input from the Word and one another in our challenging ministries in Europe.
  • Aug 15, planning meeting for a conference of ViaNova, the Belgian Gospel Mission, in which Jack will participate. Pray for wisdom and sentivity to plan the right kinds of speakers and activities to push forward church planting efforts in Europe.
  • Aug 19-24, ETF Summer school/colloquium, with courses on the book of Judges, Moral Discernment in a Technological Age, and on Faith Learning. Pray for good attendance, and for spiritual/academic growth of both professors and students.
  • Sept 2-5: Doctoral colloquium where the 45 ETF PhD students meet to present their research and get/give feedback. Three students will have their doctoral defense during this week; two retiring faculty members will have their farewell address. Pray that in everything, our academic work will be connected with our spiritual life.
  • Sept 10 – Oct 28: home ministry in the US. Pray for safe travels, many good contacts, and additional supporters.
