“Partir, c’est un peu mourir”

Blessings as Thijs and Saskia move to pastor in the Dutch city of Amersfoort

Ah, so you don’t know French?

“To leave is to die a little bit”

After serving for 6 years as pastoral workers in our Maastricht Baptist church, Thijs and Saskia followed the Lord’s call to an interim pastoral position in another Baptist church some 2 hours north of us. We are happy for the time they shared with us. We’ve watched them find their way as brand-new ETF graduates; we’ve seen them grow in ministry and leadership. They have become good friends and they were ready for the next phase of ministry in the Lord’s timing.

And yet we miss them much. Our church is now left with only two elders, who are swamped by the workload. An interim governing board was installed at a recent congregational meeting, and a search is in progress to add three new elders to the team, comprising a total of 5 elders by January 2013, Lord willing. Given the turmoil our church has been through, that is not an easy task.

Pray for healing, renewed enthusiasm and dedication in our church, for willing members to serve as elders, and for reconciliation where that still needs to take place. Thanks for praying with us.
