Come let’s celebrate …

'Nurse' Rebecca with her Dutch grand parents

Rebecca’s face lit up with joy! Finally, it was all done. She had passed all her courses already last summer. Her internship since then was in home care, which consisted in basic nursing tasks like insulin injection, swaddling sore legs and caring for superficial wounds. She would peddle several miles each day to various homes, often with lonely older people who were eager for some human contact. But she had a lot of nursing tasks that could not be practiced in this setting, so the school provided the opportunity … but we were all concerned that they wouldn’t get this done in time. But everything was completed in good order, and we had a wonderful celebration, with a brief ceremony in a restaurant since it only involved 8 students, and a family dinner out. Here’s Rebecca with her Dutch grand parents.
