Jack speaking about leadership

Jack speaking about leadership

I started Monday with a chilly walk in the fields. To get my thoughts together, to gain some peace. I put the finishing touches on the presentation. Rebecca drove our family to Leuven for the event. While they put up signs to the chapel to help visitors find their way, Pat arranged the flowers and I got my laptop ready. And then, for an audience of over 130 family, friends, staff, students and visitors, I presented my research for 20 minutes. It was followed by a full hour of public questioning by seven professors. It was intense. After the questioning, the doctoral faculty retreated for their deliberations, and upon their return they announced that I was awarded the degree of Ph.D. in divinity and religious studies with cum laude. The whole chapel erupted with a warm applause.

Wish you could have been there … and then we went with some family and close friends to celebrate at a nearby restaurant.

The topic? I studied the developing leadership patterns as Paul’s planted and stabilized the churches in Corinth and Ephesus.

  1. Congratulations on a job well done! You are very diligent, disciplined and determined to do a great job and you did! God will use all you learned to benefit many. May He bless you greatly and use you mightily! Maranatha!

  2. Congratulations, Dr. Barentsen! I know you’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. You certainly earned it!

  3. Congratulations!
God Bless You and your family in all
    the areas of ministry.
